About the Artist

Lyndon Polan is a Montréal-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in painting and drawing. He studied in Paris, Amsterdam, and Biarritz, where he developed a methodology centered on creating relationships between images through series and visual continuity. His work explores subtle narrative structures and the psychological space of the subconscious, often inviting viewers to engage with ambiguous, dreamlike scenes. Through his compositions, Polan investigates how meaning emerges not only within individual works, but through the dialogue between them.

“My work explores the construction of meaning through relationships between images. Rather than approaching each piece as a self-contained object, I am interested in how works can interact with one another to form subtle narrative structures. These connections often emerge through repetition, variation, and sequencing, allowing images to function as fragments of a larger, evolving whole.


Drawing and painting serve as tools to investigate the subconscious and the ambiguous space between perception and interpretation. I am particularly drawn to moments that feel unresolved or unstable, where the image resists a fixed reading and instead opens onto multiple possible meanings.


Influenced by reflections on the subconscious and dream states, my practice seeks to create images that feel both familiar and slightly dislocated. Through this tension, I aim to invite the viewer into a space of active interpretation, where meaning is not given, but gradually constructed through attention and association. ”
